The ââ¬Å"Ruined Maidâ⬠was composed by Thomas Hardy in 1866, during the time at the point when ladies didnââ¬â¢t engage in sexual relations before marriage and they were tossed out of their town for being ââ¬Å"ruinedâ⬠.
